SETTING UP

Here is where we'll try to give list the steps in setting up.  If you would like to help out.. experienced "BBers" can submit corrections, missing steps, ideas or tips...

We still need to know:

The total length of the cable.

   Size of cable

Distance from each end to each of the "Stops"

Measurement of each of the support pole pieces

Please email to.... BarrelRules@USLifeSafety.com

IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO MARK ALL PIECE OF THE STANDS "A" & "B" or "1" & "2"

There are seven key componets to each of two (2) support stands;

(1)  Base

(1) Top Cap

(4)  Pole sections

(1)  Supprt Chain & (1) Shackle to attach to outside of top cap

POLE STAND LOCATIONS ARE MARKED ON PAVEMENT FROM PREVIOUS YEAR
The 1st of 2 base-poles is inserted into the base
When base and all 4 poles are in place, the top cap is positioned
The support chain is connected to the backside of the cap
The cable length is 100+ with two "Stops" at each end. When the barrle hits the "Stop"...the round ends.
The 1st support stand is placed (on pre-set marks) and ready for raising
The pole is raised with a little engibe help and held until the 2nd pole is up.
Hoisting the 1st support tower
All bolts have stop nuts and are all securely checked & tighten for safety.
IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A SECOND BARREL ON HAND IN THE EVENT ONE FAILS
The 4-wheel swivel allows for movement laterally, as well as for 360 degree spinning
The 4-wheel stainless steel swivel allows for movement laterally, as well as for 360 degree spinning
THE OTHER END OF THE CABLE IS ATTACHED TO THE WINCH CABLE
THE 2ND SUPPORT STAND IS CONNECTED TO A WINCH THAT ALLOWS FOR A CONTROLLED PULL

WHEN THE BARREL FITTING HAS BEEN CHECKED...THE FRONT END WINCH IS ACTIVATED BRINGING THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL TO A HEIGHT OF 8' OFF THE PAVEMENT.

HOSES HAVE BEEN LAID OUT & READY TO CONNECT
THE MAIN HOSE WILL CONNECT TO TWO (2) 1 1/2 LINES
Two (2) 1 1/2" hoses are connected at the halway point for official to activate
THREE OFFICIALS ARE POSITIONED AT THE CONNECTORS. Timer, Barrelman and Valveman
THE BARREL IS POSITIONED AT THE 50' (HALFWAY) MARK TO START THE ROUND
ALL TEAMS SHAKE HANDS BEFORE, BETWEEN PERIODS WHEN THEY ROTATE SIDES AND AT THE END
