PENNSYLVANIA AND OTHER STATES
On June 21, 2012 the IRRC (Independent Regulatory Review Commission) approved the final version of the State Board of Education’s Chapter 10 regulations pertaining to
safe schools (Chapter 10 of 22 Pa Code). These regulations will impact your special education and law enforcement response to certain incidents. Your MOU process and contents will also be impacted.
Furthermore, this regulation has specific requirements for your school’s emergency plans to be updated annually and provided to law enforcement and fire departments. Our Center anticipates guidance
documents to be forthcoming from the Pennsylvania Department of Education and/or the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency sometime this summer. MORE
FERPA laws apply to students that are minors and not for adults. Although Life-Counts® is designed for employee (adult) use, should a school district wish to add students to our "Rescue First" (persons with special needs) feature, steps must be taken accordingly. Using student ID numbers instead of their name is the best approach and parental approval is always prudent.
The Life-Counts Information Sharing Network couples facilitie and local First Responders to critial emertgency for pre-training or response.
