The Paul E. Pivac Scholarship

 

Each year, the Canon McMillan High School awards several scholarships to deserving graduating students. The Paul E. Pivac Scholarship is awarded during this ceremony.

Cecil Assistant Fire Chief (Retired) Paul Pivac and Christopher Kerr

McDonald, PA - Assistant Fire Chief (retired) Paul Pivac of the Cecil Township #3 VFC, proudly presents the Paul Pivac Scholarship award to the 2018 winner; Christopher Kerr.

 

The $1000 schoarship, created by Paul in 2012 in the memory of his late father, is awarded each year to a deserving Canon-McMillan senior who intends to follow a career in emergency services.

 

Christopher will be attending Garrett College in McHenry Maryland and then will be attending West Virginia University in Morgantown majoring in Ballistic Forensics. 

 

Christopher, a 2018 graduate from Canon-McMillan, is an active fire fighter with the McDonald VFD.

Organizer Paul Pivac pauses before the event gets underway. Paul's goal four years ago when he began the "Paul E. Pivac Battle of the Barrel" was two-fold; To memorialize his father's long history in fire service in the community and to help youngsters get a start in emergency services. Well Done Paul...well done!
